This is a great craft to accompany a reading of “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”. The kids can get excited about patching up the letters after their big fall while they practice letter formation in a new way!
Band-aids were the famous heal-all in our classrooms, so you can imagine the excitement that ensued when we pulled out band-aids to use during a craft. Best day ever! Of course, everyone suddenly had an owie, so we made sure we had enough for each kid as well as the craft.
All you need for this activity is paper, markers, and lots of bandaids! The students will select a letter, then outline it with the help of an adult (if needed), color the letter and then you can talk about how it fell from the tree, got hurt, and needed some medical attention! Add band-aids to form the shape of the letter as we’ve shown in the picture to practice letter formation.
Add some yarn and hang your letters in a coconut tree in your classroom for some display creativity!
