We’re excited to share “noodles” of ideas (see what I did there?) to go with our book of the week, Strega Nona. Strega Nona is a book about an old lady who was known for solving the troubles of the townspeople. She decided to hire someone to help her take care of her home and garden. She hires Big Anthony and gives him one rule, “don’t touch the pasta pot!”. Big Anthony sees Strega Nona use magic to fill the pot with tasty pasta. He wants to give it a try, so he breaks the rule and makes some pasta using her magic chant. Unfortunately, he didn’t see Strega Nona blow three kisses to stop the pasta from overflowing! In the end, Strega Nona has to save the day, and Big Anthony has a LOT of pasta to clean up! Click below to explore our collection of activities, including noodle sorting, rainbow noodles, and a fun noodle gathering game!
To integrate the 5 senses while we read the book, we used a variety of pasta shapes and sizes! We recommend cooking some pasta beforehand so the kids can taste the pasta as well.
