In 2008 I had the pleasure of sleeping on the ground. In a tent. At night. In a bear-ridden forest.(Camping is a mystery to me).
Watching bears in a zoo or on tv is very different than watching a bear circle your tent. I would like a tent made of Captain America shields, please.
What am I saying. I want a house in a city with a bed and a shower.
While my brothers huddled in the travel van, I held perfectly still in a tent in the WILD, and never took my eyeballs off that bear-shadow. Because I was braver than them (read: I was too lazy to carry my stuff to the van when it was bedtime and too scared once the bear prowling began.)
Sleeping while a bear is sniffing you is extremely difficult, folks. For some reason it’s distracting.
Our book this week is great for bedtime, or anytime. It starts with Eric Carle’s iconic Brown Bear. A non-hungry-non-people-sniffing kind of bear.
Filled with animals of every kind in a rainbow of colors, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is simple and perfect. A few of the structural strengths of this book include lots of repetition (awesome for tots learning to read) and use of myriad colors! We decided to focus our line-up of activities for this book on the rainbow of colors. Check out the fun below!
