M&M Sorting

Sorting is an important pre-curser skill for Math & Reading, so we like to sort every chance we get! Since Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is full of colors, we decided this would be a fun time to sort colorful candy (we chose M&M’s) to continue talking about colors in a math setting. After sorting the M&M’s by color, practice counting & adding before the gobbling begins!

Materials:

  • Bowls or cups
  • Colored Candy (We used M&M’s)

Instructions:

  1. Place a cup of M&M’s in front of the child, and 6 empty cups around it.
  2. Place one color in each cup, and then let the child start sorting from their cup!
  3. Use these worksheets to do some M&M addition and subtraction.
