Upside Down Cup Trick

For our Silly Sally science experiment, we’re checking out this fun magic trick! If you put a piece of paper on a cup of water, you can tip it over and the water stays inside! We thought it was perfect to do this upside down cup trick after reading all about Silly Sally and her upside down walking. Here’s how we did it:

Materials:

  • Glass
  • Water
  • Playing Card (we used a square of cardstock. It works, but the water soaks through after a few seconds, so you’ll want to experiment over a bin or outside.)

Instructions:

  1. Fill the glass 3/4 of the way with water
  2. Place the card on top of the glass
  3. Flip the cup over and check out your magical skills!

*You will probably want to do this activity outside or over a bin, or this might happen. Now you can’t say you weren’t warned!
