All the colors in The Day the Crayons Quit inspired us to whip up some 7-layer dip! When McKenzie was in college, she had a 7-layer dip party with her friends where they put plastic wrap on the table and built the dip right there! We thought this would be fun to do with kids, but instead of one big 7 layer dip, we let them build there own! (This allows the kids to leave off anything offensive to them, which for most kids would be everything but the cheese. Kids these days.) Most everyone knows how to make this classic, but just in case you are new to the 7-layer dip club (Welcome, your life is about to improve in a hurry), we’ll include the recipe below!
In order- bottom layer to top!
- Refried beans
- Sour Cream (you can mix this with some taco seasoning or leave it plain. I love the Taco seasoning mixture!)
- Avocado (smashed, add a little kosher salt to enhance the flavor)
- Cheese, shredded
- Green Onions, diced
- Olives, diced
- Tomatoes, diced
- Tortilla Chips
- Stack the ingredients to your liking and dig in!
