Writing with “Room on the Broom”
We have a writing prompt (+ printable!) and some simple drawings your little people can use as a reference to write all about Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson.
Comprehension: What was this book about?
Ask: What was this book about? Draw simple pictures that illustrate what the book was about while the little people watch. Draw a few pictures that are not about the book if you want to up the difficulty a bit. Then lay out the pictures and invite the kids to write in their journals about the book. If they are ready to write words, have them sound them out and write them as labels or sentences!
Opinion: What would you do if…
Ask: What would you do if a dragon wanted to eat your friend? Print off the worksheet and have your little people draw a picture to show what they would do, and then write, copy, or trace (have them dictate what they want to write to you) simple sentences below the picture.
Have fun writing!
