Mini Cornbread Muffins and Homemade Butter: Cooking with “Thankful” By Eileen Spinelli
I’m very excited to share activities for “Thankful” with you this week. This sweet little book by Eileen Spinelli is full lots of different things people are thankful for, and it has quickly become my favorite book for Thanksgiving. The rhymes are perfect, and the illustrations are endearing. I cannot recommend this book enough.
We are making homemade butter for our science experiment, so we whipped up some ADORABLE mini cornbread muffins as our cooking activity, and the two go together marvelously. These didn’t last long at our house! In the book, there is a page about bee-keepers being grateful for their honey bees. We’re making a pretty cute bee for the craft this week, so adding a little honey to your cornbread and butter would just be too perfect.
Here’s What We Used:
- Cornbread Mix (ours called for egg, butter, and milk)
- Mini muffin tin
- Non-stick cooking spray
- Homemade butter
- Make mini cornbread muffins according to package directions (don’t forget to have your little ones do as much as they can during the process!)
- While they bake, make some homemade butter
- Slather cornbread with butter and honey and ENJOY!
